America on the Move

The National Museum of American History investigates the road that transportation took in America over the years. On the exhibition's website, you can check out how transportation transformed different cities and regions in various eras, for example Route 66 in the 1930s and 1940s and comparing city and suburb in Chicago and Park Forest, Illinois. You can also search vehicle or transportation type, region or time period to learn more. Read about how themes such as Arts and Leisure and Immigration and Migration added to the transportation revolution as well. A games link includes matching vehicles to its proper age and location, "Drive Through Time" and creating a movie with the exhibition's artifacts.
